The course format is instructor-led and face-to-face. By appointment only.
Overview:
This course teaches attendees how to specify automated shading systems in response to changing building conditions, occupant needs, and thermal efficiency. A thorough explanation of fabric properties, mounting situations, and shade operation is covered for both internal and external use. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to identify and select durable, functional shade fabrics with accompanying hardware, motors, and controls that meet both the aesthetic needs and performance requirements of their building spaces.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn how solar shade fabric properties such as composition, structure, openness factor, and color directly affect shade performance and heat gain.
- Analyze fabric fenestration data and understand how solar energy from the sun influences these values and the combined solar heat gain values of the complex glazing system.
- Gain knowledge of the many roller shade components on the market today and how different mounting and installation options, inside and outside, can maximize building efficiencies.
- Understand shade control options and how automation can be incorporated into building management systems and solar tracking software for thermal shade performance, acoustics, daylighting, and overall occupant comfort.
